Snow Aid for Connecticut?

Governor Dannel Malloy sent a formal request to President Obama asking him to declare a major disaster in the state of Connecticut due to all the snow last month.

If Obama officially declares the emergency, the state may receive federal aid for cities and towns impacted by the snow on January 12.

Malloy requested aid for eight counties in Connecticut after Fema confired expenses and snowfall amounts met their standards.

The state may receive up to 14 million dollars.

‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ Could Soon Become ‘Ask, Tell’

Capital Hill has been paying close attention to the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” military policy. This policy prevents openly gay men and women from serving in the military.

President Obama, however, recently teamed up with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen. They want to make service open to all Americans, as long as good order and discipline can be maintained.

Supporters of the change feel addressing the law will be better if instituted sooner rather than later due to the public shift in opinion toward homosexuals, especially among young adults.

Around 1,000 men and women, including some with critical translation skills, are discharged from the military each year for being gay.
